Joelle (Jo) presented to a wide range of Caregivers at our facility, from front-line nurses to office positions. All those present stated that the information they learned was helpful — in their positions, in the workplace, and in everyday life.

Jo opened our eyes to the ways we discriminate, many times unknowingly, against our transgender and gender-nonconforming patients in the healthcare setting.  She gave numerous tips and a wealth of information in the ways we, as healthcare providers can improve care.  If I had to boil the entire presentation down to one word, it would be “Respect”.
